Unlocked! First stretch goal at 350 backers
about 3 years ago – Thu, Feb 25, 2021 at 09:22:58 PM

I'm callin' it. We've unlocked the goal!

That means that the 20 characters from CC1 will get their own card deck. 20 cards, in Decks of Destiny format.

If we unlock CC5 at 700 backers, which has 64 counters in it, I'll fill up the second sheet with the counters from CC1: Experienced Adventurers. Waste not, want not!

Card Decks ... from Five Perilous Journeys. My first "hands-on"
about 3 years ago – Wed, Feb 24, 2021 at 09:59:49 PM

At long last, Gaming Ballistic receives a few copies of the card decks - Decks of Destiny style - created for Five Perilous Journeys. I thought all of them had been delivered to backers, but turns out there were three remaining in the UK. They arrived today! These decks are representative of what is available for the current Character Collections Kickstarter...except there's going to be nearly 600 cards if we unlock all the stretch goals!

Welcome to Day 5...will the first Stretch Goal fall today?
about 3 years ago – Wed, Feb 24, 2021 at 09:58:39 PM

Welcome to Day 5 of this 18-day project!

Status and Progress

We funded in nine hours, and we are currently

  • 27 backers from the first stretch goal of making character cards for CC1
  • 177 backers from unlocking CC4: Wizards
  • 377 backers from unlocking CC5: Merchants and Caravans
  • 677 backers from unlocking CC6: Pirates, Raiders, and Sailors

over the last two days, we've averaged 20 backers per day; that strongly suggests that we can hope the first stretch goal should fall today or tomorrow.

The other two look far away...but if we continue on the pace of roughly 20/day through the end, with no pickup, we'll hit 600 people. That means only 100 of the 268 who are following but not yet pledged would need to come over...and that's on pace for the current conversion rate of the project.

BiggerCake seems to think we'll surpass 700 handily.

Finally, expect to see a few podcasts and some larger marketing reach in the next week or so.

Make the Most of the Post

Increasing the reach of the project is key. The more see it and hear things about Gaming Ballistic and the products that - thanks to projects like this one - we have created the more we can lean on the stretch goals.

Yesterday I either made or replied to posts in three different large RPG forums. There are also facebook posts and twitter tweets that can be seen and reshared or commented on. Every time that happens, the network grows and the number of backers grows also - creators get the stats and can see it happen!

More Perilous Journeys: Arriving

Mostly on Facebook, but I've seen other places as well: More Perilous Journeys is very nearly finished fulfillment, with 32 packages still "in transit" within the USPS, 2 out for delivery. I'm still waiting to hear about the Royal Mail DDP program, which covers 17 packages bound for the EU.

Everything else has been marked as delivered in the USA.

Totally stolen from Todd Rumbach!

This is, to really hammer home the point, another way of getting the word out about Gaming Ballistic, this project, and TFT. Post images, reviews, and commentary in places where people will see them.

As Professor Lupin said: "It really does help."

Entering the Linear Region
about 3 years ago – Wed, Feb 24, 2021 at 09:54:28 PM

Hey, everyone!

We've entered the region after the first few days of the campaign where things slow down. And yet...we have already had 20 additional backers today, plus 20 more who are now following the campaign but have not yet backed.

We're over 300 actively pledged, so in the next few days, we hopefully see the 350-backer stretch goal fall.

SJGames was nice enough to mention the Character Collections campaign in their Hexagram 6 update, which may be where some of the new activity has come from.

If you're looking at projections, well, the site BiggerCake actually is predicting the campaign comes in at over $20,000. That's not what this campaign is based on, but given the average pledge is a bit over $27...it does suggest that their algorithm thinks we'll hit 750 backers or more.

I guess I better get crackin' on Wizards and Merchants/ and Caravans! With a bit of help, it wouldn't take much to bust through 1,000.

Sharing is Caring

As always, the bulk of the visibility during the middle of the campaign comes from backers and fans sharing links.

Here's a few that can work.

I will be making some posts on various RPG boards as well. I'll post those when I do them.

Morning! Welcome to Day 2...
about 3 years ago – Wed, Feb 24, 2021 at 09:47:05 PM

The first 24 hours of the campaign aren't even over yet (!!) and we're in a pretty good place. Not "gee, where did these 1,000 backers come from?" good, but:

  • We funded. We funded in the first eight hours. That's not surprising given past campaigns, but it's nice to see
  • We're right around 240 backers at the $10 or more level, and if you look at those following the campaign but not yet pledged, that's another 240 or so more. That combination is very close to the second stretch goal, giving us CC4: Wizards
  • Past performance is no guarantee of future results and the like, but I've usually seen 1/3 to 1/2 the backer count come in on Day 2 as Day 1. That would pass the first stretch goal, making the custom cards for CC1 available.

So just based on what I'm seeing so far, we can probably get halfway to the full set of books I want to deliver. To bridge the gap from where we are to 1,000 backers, though...I need your help to make people aware of the campaign and what's on offer. We need to pass the goals before the campaign closes, because after the KS phase is over, it's all about manufacturing. Rapid manufacturing.

Today I'll be inserting about half the final art into CC2. I expect to receive the other half in the next two days or so. Then the three books will be ready for delivery. At that point we'll do some checking to make sure they're all correct (not optimized, but correct), and then making plans to get the cards and counters prepped for manufacture.

I already placed the order for the custom 3.5x5" card die from my vendor; we were interacting on that yesterday.

This campaign is running significantly ahead of the last one in terms of "what's ready and when." That is by design. The sooner we smash stretch goals, the more likely that everyone gets all of their PDFs the day the surveys close, and physical goods as soon as they can be manufactured.

Until then, as the guy said in the old TV miniseries, "V."

"...go tell your friends!"
