Till Death Do Us Part

A TFT Solo Adventure by David Pulver from Gaming Ballistic

The small County of Lorne and the Barony of Prufax faces an impending invasion from the omnipresent orcs from the northwest. The two realms, long-time rivals, have arranged an alliance, cemented by marriage between the two houses.

Lorne's chief retainers must deliver deliver the betrothed (and of course, her lady’s maid) to the altar in time for the wedding. It's a simple escort mission; surely nothing could go wrong.

You can almost hear calm, resonant voice saying "Things do go wrong" in the background.

Till Death Do Us Part is the fourth programmed adventure from Gaming Ballistic, played using the In the Labyrinth rules from The Fantasy Trip(TFT). You won’t need a GM ... but there are plenty of options to play with one if desired. Branching paragraphs direct you from encounter to encounter as you make choices. Three characters are provided: a knight, a mercenary soldier, and a ranger. All are 35 points, making them a bit tougher than the 32-points given to starting characters in the game.

Development Schedule

Initial playtesting and feedback have been VERY positive, and development is well underway. It's written. It's laid out. It has a cover, and all the art is in commission. While print fulfillment is always a toss-up, I expect PDFs to be available promptly.

  • Kickstarter Launch: June 7
  • Kickstarter End: June 20, 10pm Central Time
  • Backerkit Start: by June 30
  • Backerkit End: no later than July 10

Tower of the Moon (for TFT) Product Launch runs through Sept 30
over 2 years ago – Thu, Sep 23, 2021 at 05:13:34 AM

Just a friendly reminds this Tuesday that the product launch for Tower of the Moon (for TFT and the OSR as two separate products) is underway through Sept 30. This isn't exactly a Dungeon Fantasy RPG product ... but all of my Dungeon Fantasy RPG material is available there as well, in case you didn't get your fill through prior KS campaigns. However ...

Tower of the Moon is a product launch, not a Kickstarter! People who order PDFs get them immediately. Those who order physical products other than the OSR version of Tower of the Moon have their stuff ship out nearly immediately - sometimes the next day!

Everything made by Gaming Ballistic - plus a few choice items from Steve Jackson Games - are available. Again...the link says "pre-order," but only because I can't change it!

https://towerofthemoon.backerkit.com/hosted_preorders

I have already shipped out one large retail order ... and would be very happy to do more, if your favorite local game store is up for it.

This is an experiment to see if a direct launch with instant gratification (or close to it) is more attractive than a crowdfunding campaign. If you want to see more like this, please let me know!

Tower of the Moon (and more): Now LIVE
over 2 years ago – Fri, Sep 03, 2021 at 11:00:03 PM

The Product Launch campaign for Tower of the Moon, a new 16-page Gothic horror adventure, is now live!

It comes in versions for both The Fantasy Trip and Swords and Wizardry

You can browse Gaming Ballistic’s entire product catalog, more or less, on the Backerkit “pre-order” store, as well as select items (in limited quantities) from Steve Jackson Games (dice, GM screen, and some of the core books and sets). There are also a few Dragon Heresy and D&D-based items on sale as well.

A few things have come up as we launch this somewhat unique direct-to-Backerkit campaign as we're an hour or so into it.

PDF Availability: There ARE PDFs available for nearly everything. You might just need to scroll down a bit. The Tower of the Moon PDF is way down in the TFT section. At the end, due to the vagaries of the alphabet.

International Physical Shipping: There is, regrettably, no international shipping of physical goods for this campaign. Please scroll down to No International Shipping...Yet at the Gaming Ballistic Website for why, and more details on how I hope to navigate this in the future.

You can find very (!!) detailed information including live links to all products at the Tower of the Moon Campaign Page on my website. One of the downsides to the Backerkit-only launch is that all the detailed information is in a different place than the web store.

To find out more, including live links at the individual item level, jump to the

Gaming Ballistic Tower of the Moon Info Page

You can also

Jump right to the pre-order page

I'm really curious to see how this project does, for many reasons.

Coming Soon (Friday, actually): Tower of the Moon by David Pulver
over 2 years ago – Wed, Sep 01, 2021 at 12:04:13 PM

Gaming Ballistic is proud to announce that the product campaign for Tower of the Moon, a new TFT adventure by David Pulver, will launch this Friday, September 3.

The adventure is written, edited, laid out, the art is complete, and the PDF is hyperlinked. What’s left to do?

Nothing. That’s why we’re skipping Kickstarter and jumping right to Backerkit. Right now, this Backerkit Landing Page will allow you to sign up for more notifications, such as when the Backerkit store opens on Friday morning (roughly 8am Central Time).

This is an experiment, both to test out the capabilities of Backerkit Launch, as well as to offer “immediate gratification” for products that are finished. This page here on my blog substitutes for the usual campaign page found on Kickstarter. I hope you join me, and spread the word!

International Shipping: Financial Tale of Woe
almost 3 years ago – Sat, Jul 10, 2021 at 01:45:40 AM

OK, the orders are all underway and many have arrived.

I did want to brief you guys on what it took to get this done, because, especially with all of the rules having changed on July 1, it is unlikely that I can repeat this.

The 25 or so international orders carried a retail value of $2,850. I collected less, because of discounts in pricing with each package, Kickstarter and Backerkit fees, and licensing fees. I collected an additional $800 in shipping and VAT.

I then had to pay $2,000 to get these orders tested for international safety compliance. $1,000 each for the cards and counters.

Shipping ran $1,400, including a whopping $450 in customs/storage charges (the airport dinged me for $200 of that in storage fees!). By comparison, air-freight of the materials to Greece was only €200.

So overall, I wound up perhaps breaking even in total on the international physical goods segment. Not ideal.

Obviously this has implications for the future. "Stuff" is clearly a problem. I don't think I can repeat that in a way that folks will like (I will use the card/counter certification if I do that in the future, because it'll be the same stuff...but even so, I needed to collect nearly double what I did (!!) in order to break even on shipping and VAT.

Books are better, but I really need to find an EU short-run book printer. I used to use Mixam UK, but that's not viable for not-the-UK anymore. I can print for Canada in Canada, and AUS/NZ in Australia (both with Mixam). If you know of any, please do let me know.
